Floyd, Christiane, et al., eds. Feminist Challenges in the Information Age. Opladen: Leske & Budrich, 2002. 421 pp.

by Sylvia M. DeSantis

In the summer of 2000, the University of Hamburg hosted a three-month-long International Women's University (ifu) study program titled "Project Area INFORMATION." The event, attended by an international audience of women from over sixty countries, focused on women's entry into the information age. Participants organized, taught, and attended seminars and short courses designed to share global visions of information technology. A recent addition to the other volumes within the scholarly ifu series, Feminist Challenges in the Information Age presents the project design, scholarly work, strategies, and experiences of the "Project Area INFORMATION" participants as they worked towards defining information as a significant social resource for women while embracing their mission to "use knowledge for action."
